I’m Justin, a student at UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business. I founded the GVSFA to make financial literacy more accessible and engaging for students, connecting schools through workshops and a regional competition with partners like BMO. Outside of GVSFA, I am interested in DeFi, ML in finance, and futures trading -- documented here. My research on AMM fee design and marginal slippage was published in ASRJETS, and I am currently a researcher with Professor Robert Edelstein studying globalization and the U.S. economy at Berkeley.

I’m Brian, an incoming math major at UBC with a deep interest in economics and finance. My enthusiasm for these fields has been fueled by my participation in numerous case and pitch competitions. I am honored to play a role in launching the inaugural Greater Vancouver School Finance Association (GVFSA) Conference. My goal is to ensure this first edition of the conference is a memorable and impactful experience for all involved.

I am Kai, a business student at Western University pursuing finance. Currently, I am involved in various finance internships to gain hands-on experience in the industry. I hope to bring the knowledge and skills I’ve developed over the years to help build an outstanding conference, and I’m honoured to collaborate with a passionate team as the Executive Director of Finance for the GVSFA's 2026 Annual Conference to create meaningful opportunities for students interested in finance.

My name is Khang, an incoming Economics student at UBC, I'm also grateful to be a candidate for the Harvard Tech Venture Summer Program 2025. My journey in finance started with a fascination for the power of compounding and grew into a drive to build meaningful, lasting value. That mindset led me to start the Kwantlen Park Investing Club and seek out experiences that push me forward. I am honored to serve as Director of Finance for the Greater Vancouver School Finance Association.

I’m Jeff, a senior at Vancouver College and an incoming freshman at the York Schulich School of Business. I developed an interest in finance after completing an internship at HD Mining. As an executive member of the Robotics Team and Coding Club, I hope to integrate my knowledge of algorithms into the world of finance and apply them in the GVSFA competition. I’m particularly excited about partaking in an event to contribute to a more dynamic and insightful experience for all participants.

I’m Adrian, an incoming freshman at the University of Toronto. I intend on pursuing finance. I have pursued my passion for finance by interning under the accounting team at a biopharmaceutical company based in Hong Kong and Korea. My interest in the world of financial affairs can be seen in school periodical articles, club leadership, and private investments made on the NYSE and on crypto markets.

Emre Kilicarslan

I am Emre, a senior and aspiring engineer. Having contributed to the founding of the Eric Hamber's Finance and Economics Club, I developed a profound interest in establishing the Greater Vancouver School Finance Association as the Director of Communications through the application of technical skills in web development and graphic design. I am privileged to be part of the the 2024 Annual Greater Vancouver School Finance Conference.

I am Jack Hu, a statistics student at UC Berkeley and a 2023 graduate of St. George's School. I have developed an interest in Web3 technologies and data science, and I am currently working on backend data aggregation for Dune Analytics.

I am Logan, an incoming student at McMaster’s DeGroote School of Business and Director of Marketing for the GVSFA. I’m working to expand our reach and elevate Western Canada’s largest student-run finance conference, with new campaigns and content strategies to engage more students. Having come first place the 2025 CPA BC Coin Competition, I’m eager to merge my passion for finance and marketing to make this year’s conference our most ambitious yet.

Julia Chuk

FOUNDER, President

I’m Julia, a senior at Eric Hamber, interested in pursuing medicine and finance in college. I founded the Greater Vancouver School Finance Association to make financial literacy more accessible for students. Outside of GVSFA, I serve as President of the Hamber Finance Club. I am also chair of the Vancouver School Board Sustainability Connection and serve as an executive on the Vancouver District Student Council. My work centers on bridging student voices across schools, advancing sustainability, and creating meaningful opportunities for youth leadership and collaboration. I am honored to lead GVSFA this year.

I am Shirina, an IB student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary High School. My passion for finance is to enter into data analytics and marketing. Outside of finance, I am an artistic swimming athlete who competes provincially, nationally, and internationally. I am focused on bringing the best sponsor and experience to the 2026 conference for GVSFA.
