GVSFA Conference 24' - October 12th, 2024
The Greater Vancouver School Finance Association is an annual high school Finance and Business Competition with students from all across the lower mainland. The first annual event occurred on October 12th, 2024 in the form of a 4 person team based Bee Competition, with over 150 attendees, featuring industry experts, networking, and 2 rounds of official competition. The goal of GVSFA is to inspire students who already have a passion in finance and business to have an outlet for creative expression, and fun filled competition. In 2025, the conference will expand internationally to host over 1000+ people with a preset participant registration phase, to be hosted over the course of 3 nights in Downtown Vancouvers Sheraton Wall Centre hotel. 2025 will host school sign ups, as well as individual sign ups.
The schedule over a course of an expanded three days will include, industry internship networking, prepared food, prizes, late night trivia, Trading Floor Simulator (literally-we’ll have a hotel floor), the classic competition over three rounds, and a Monopoly-Inspired Room Takeover, where each hotel room within a sectional will represent different properties or assets. Teams “buy” rooms with “currency” they earn from challenges and try to build a portfolio.“market crash,” “interest rate hike,” etc. happen in real time!
